Loudon County Senior Center

Location:
Loudon, Tennessee

Status:
Completed

The senior citizens of Loudon County, Tennessee, count themselves lucky to have a gorgeous state-of-the-art lakefront facility for their community activities. The Loudon County Senior Center was a collaborative project organized by Dover Signature Properties, which had recently renovated an old warehouse nearby into 40 townhomes. General manager Rick Dover approached Loudon County with the idea to build a senior center and offered to donate the building design. The county agreed to fund $2 million for the building; the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the city of Loudon also agreed to donate parcels of land.

The resulting center is a hub of activity—fitness and art classes, health checkups, meals, computer training, ballroom dancing, billiards, and more—and also houses the local Office on Aging. All programs are free for Loudon County senior citizens.
